Dubrovnik boasts a rich Jewish heritage and is still home to one of the oldest synagogues in Europe, making it an essential visit for those interested in how the Jewish people helped influence this part of the world. This unique walking tour provides a fascinating insight into the many ups and downs of Jewish life in Dubrovnik from the time of the Republic to today.

Jewish people first arrived in Dubrovnik in the 15th Century and made an important contribution to the Republic's Golden Age. A strong community emerged, establishing successful trade and commerce, and playing an important role in shaping both the economic and cultural development of the city. Sadly, political upheaval, war and economic instability was to disrupt this thriving community. However, the Dubrovnik Jewish population has continued to overcome these obstacles, whilst always taking pride in its heritage.

This guided walk covers Onofrio's Fountain, the main street of Stradun and of course Zudioska Ulica (Jewish Street), where the Jewish ghetto once was, making this an emotive journey into the past. Here you will also visit the famous Synagogue, which was first constructed in the 15th Century and, of course, is still in use today.
